Artifacts
Artifacts are special in that only one copy of any artifact can exist in the mud at any time. Thus, you can't put an artifact into your locker, and when you leave the game, and artifacts you are holding will be dropped into the room that you were in before logging out.
AFFECTS command also displays artifact effects. Here's a short list about what they do:
Necronomicon: Increases the power of your magic as if you were in s supermagic area.
Mist of R'lyeh: You are protected against all kinds of offensive magic.
Ring of Eibon: Neutralizes all resistances/immunities of your opponent.
Blessing of Nephran: Makes you immune to all age effects inclusive death of old age.
Heart of Abhoth: Gives you access to the dead God's mana pool.
Spear of Marduk: Allows you to use the SMITE <victim> command.
Heart of Nosferatu: The vampire is able to withstand sunlight and will not fall in frenzy, even when thirsty..
